health and safety

Organisations today face complex and evolving health and safety challenges.

Embedding a strong safety culture so that safe behaviours become second nature isn’t easy. Leaders need their people to make safety a genuine priority – but employees are often bombarded with safety messages that lose impact over time.

At the same time, diverse and dispersed workforces mean that communications must be clear, inclusive and relevant to everyone – not just in the content, but how that content is delivered.

Balancing productivity with the need to reduce incidents and protect people remains a constant pressure, as does staying resilient and adaptable in the face of new risks, regulations and business demands.

We’ve worked with organisations facing these exact challenges. By combining our deep understanding of workplace health and safety with proven expertise in communications, we help businesses build stronger safety cultures, engage employees, reduce incidents and keep their people safe.

For a taste of how we approach our work, here are a selection of case studies showing our behaviour change work for health and safety.

We lead Network Rail’s four-year Safe Service comms programme, using the core narrative and identity we created to deliver  over 150 content pieces designed to improve their safety culture.

We use the ADKAR model to drive awareness, knowledge and reinforcement through targeted comms informed by behavioural science and principles of psychology. The result – 20% more safety conversations and a 17% rise in safety hour attendance.

We refreshed Network Rail’s long-standing vision with a new safety identity built on empathy and care. To bring this to life, we launched the “Home. Safe.” campaign.

Through emotive films and storytelling, we shifted focus from the rules to why they matter, sparking emotional connection through personal meaning and reinforcing that safety is about everyone.

The Drive Safe programme tackles Network Rail’s road collision risk by engaging drivers, managers, unions and safety teams.

Focusing on alertness, speeding and distraction, it uses a distinct identity and a suite of mobile-first guides to spark inclusive, practical conversations. By consulting widely, it effectively reaches a diverse, hard-to-reach audience and helps teams share, discuss and embed safety.
